A mass of resurrection will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Church for Kevin Patrick Waterman, 19, of 1111 Oakland Dr., Muscatine, who died from injuries suffered in a farm accident Sunday near here.

Rev. Thomas J. Buechle will conduct the mass. There will be no visitation at the Riley Funeral Home, which is in charge of the arrangements. Burial will be at a later date.

Dr, V.W. Swayze, Muscatine county medical examiner, said an autopsy showed Waterman's death was caused by internal bleeding from a laceration through the liver. Waterman's injuries were received shortly before 11:00 a.m. Sunday when he accidently backed into a power take off of a grain elevator being used to harvest corn. The accident occurred on a farm owned by George Henke about seven miles northeast of Muscatine on the Wilton blacktop. The David Blocker family resides on the farm.

State Representative Richard Drake of Muscatine, Henke's son-in-law, operates the farm and was working about 100 feet from Waterman when the accident occurred. Drake said he was greasing a corn picker when he heard the elevator jump and Waterman call for help.

Waterman was found lying on the ground and Drake ran to the house, called an ambulance and covered the youth with two blankets. Drake said part of Waterman's clothing apparently became entangled in the power take off and was ripped off his body and wound around the shaft of the equipment

The accident was investigated by the Muscatine County sheriff's department.
