Douglas Floyd Terill, 17

Died: July 9, 1968

Injuries sustained in a fourth of July auto accident Claimed the life Tuesday of Douglas Floyd Terill, 17, of 409 Evans Street. Terrill died at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday at University Hospitals, Iowa City, where he had been in critical condition since the accident.

services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Geo. M. Wittich Funeral Home. The Rev Don Crawford will officiate. The casket will remain closed. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.

Susan Brwer, 16, injured in the accident with terrill is in improved condition today at University Hospitals after earlier being in serious and critical lists.

The mishap occurred on Terill's 17th birthday on Highway 76 about two and one-half miles south of West Liberty. The car according to Highway Patrolman Bill Shank, crossed the rain-slickened highway, skidded on the shoulder, went across a culvert and slammed into a tree.

Douglass Ford terrill was born July 4, 1951 in Muscatine and spent his entire life here. He was a member of the First Assembly of God church and a junior at Muscatine High School.

Surviving are his parents; two grandmothers, Mrs. Blanche Matthiessen, Muscatine and Coleen Terrill, Rock Island; one brother Rev. Gary J. Terrill, Mitchelville; and three sisters, Mrs. Orland (Linda) Preston Jr., Grandview and Mrs Larry G. (kathy) Gray and Mrs. james (Susan) Walters, all of Muscatine.
