Richard James Lewis

Richard Jim Lewis, 43, of 2459 Bob White Drive, died Monday morning, March 13, 1995, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Leif Pohl officiating. Organist will be Sally Exbom and vocalist will be Chris Ridge. Pallbearers will be Wes Webber, Adam Stark, Nick Hindahl, Jake Naber, Peter Lewis and Bill Schoening. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Ralph J. Wittich Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the adult Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at the University of Iowa Hospitals.

Mr Lewis was born July 21, 1951 in Muscatine, a son of Howard R. and Alys Stroh Lewis. He married Dana Lewig on Jan 30, 1971 at St. Mary's Church in Muscatine.

He was an avid hunter. He enjoyed outdoor sports with his sons and skydiving. He was a very special uncle to all of his nieces and nephews.

He was employed at Muscatine Power and Water Company for the past 11 years, currently as a shift supervisor. Prior to 1984 he had worked at the Fair Station in Montpelier.

Survivors include his wife, Dana; two sons, Sgt Andrew Lewis of Fort Bragg, NC and Doug Lewis at home; his mother and stepfather, Alys and Weldon Hidlebaugh of Muscatine; three sisters, Susan Lewis, Mrs Jim (Sally) Naber and Mrs Steve (Abbie) Hindahl, all of Muscatine, a stepsister, Mrs. Darrell (Cindy) Hazelwood of Muscatine; and his wife's parents, Mr and Mrs. Robert Lewig of Muscatine.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1970 and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
