JOYCE Law LAWRENCE

FRUITLAND, Iowa — Joyce E. Lawrence, 64, of Fruitland, Iowa, passed away Monday, Sept. 5, 2016, at University Hospitals, after an 11-year courageous battle with multiple myeloma.

A Celebration of Life service will be 3-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, 2016, at the Fruitland Community Center. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Multiple Myeloma Research, Patient Access Network, or the Chronic Disease Fund, and sent to Traci Hook, 18572 Maverick Lane, Muscatine. Joyce was born Nov. 22, 1951, in Muscatine, the daughter of Emery and Mary Lou Eickmeier Law. She married Gary Lawrence on Nov. 22, 1969, at the Musserville Methodist Church in Muscatine.

She was a homemaker and had worked for Ina Mae’s, Scotts Outdoors, and drove the transportation bus for Lutheran Homes. She was a people person, and loved to can, quilt and garden. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother who enjoyed teaching them how to cook, bake, and sew.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Gary Lawrence of Fruitland; two sons, Brian Lawrence and Chris Lawrence, both of Muscatine; one daughter, Traci Hook and husband, Duane, of Muscatine; five grandchildren, Draven Lawrence, Samantha Cook, Makenah Lawrence, Magnolia Lawrence, and Lyla Lawrence; four fur-grandbabies, Winnie, Nellie, Sierra and Camo; her mother, Mary Law of Muscatine; one brother, Jeff Law and wife, Vicky Kerr-Law, of Muscatine; and two sisters, Janet Tumey and husband, Don, of Bettendorf, and Joanne McKee and significant other, Fred, of Riverside, California.

She was preceded in death by her father, and her mother and father-in-law, Emma and Jake Lawrence.
