After 30 years together, I married Steve Kehoe on September 15, 2008, at San Francisco City Hall . We had at the time an unfortunately-rare California same-sex marriage license recognized at home, the District of Columbia, and our home state, Iowa. Our marriage equality is now available through the country and many foreign countries Love is Love.
I met Steve, who is from Waterloo (West '69), in Iowa City through a mutual friend while I was in law school (1975). We lived for 14 years in Melbourne, Iowa, where I served as mayor, before we moved to DC in 1998.

Steve and I backpacking in the Teton Wilderness Area - along the Continental divide south of Yellowstone and east of the Grand Tetons shown in the distance (60 miles or so) We did several trips over the years we lived in Iowa. This picture was from 1997.
