WAYLAND, Iowa: The Rev. Nancy Renfro, 53, Wayland, died Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at Washington County Hospital, Washington, after a sudden illness.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2006, at the Wayland Mennonite Church, Wayland.  The Rev. W. Michael Biklen will officiate. After the services, her body will be cremated and interred at a later date.

Visitation will begin 9 a.m. Friday, May 19, 2006, with family present from 6-8 p.m., at the Beatty Funeral Home, Wayland.  Memorials may be made to the New Life Parish.

Rev. Renfro was born Aug. 24, 1952, in Muscatine, the daughter of Kenneth F. and Mabel Davidson Canarr.  She married Jimmy Renfro on June 29, 1984, in Muscatine.

She graduated from Muscatine High School, St. Petersburg College of Nursing, Iowa Wesleyan College and received her master of divinity from the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary.

She was pastor at Wesley United Methodist Church, Muscatine; Peace United Methodist Church, Wilton; and the last two years at the United Methodist New Life Parish in Wayland, Cottonwood and Finley Church. She was a member of the Wayland Lions Club, WACO Ministerial Association and the Henry County Ministerial Association.

She enjoyed crafts, stamping cards, crocheting and reading and was a life long learner.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Lance Bennett of Portland, Ore.; a stepson, Stephen Renfro of Muscatine; a stepdaughter, Julie Berry of Muscatine; brothers, Lester Canarr of Muscatine and Fred Canarr of Channelview, Texas; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, John; and a sister, Janet Shetler.
